WAK Version 1.0beta Date: 31/March/2003 Author: Daniel Trembath, wak@hisplace.net (wak stuff only) Copywrite: Me. You're free to distribute it though. NOTE: If you want to check Gamearena/Wireplay servers you need to have your COGS client openon and logged in. WHAT DOES IT DO This program checks a list of half-life servers for your clan name(s) and if there is enough people of your clan people on a particular server it will show a little pop-up window in the bottom right hand corner of your screen to let you know. Just click on the popup window to make it disappear again. Just run the program. It defaults to [SLAK] and the SLAK game servers, but you can change those settings (read below). As soon as one of your servers has enough of your clan mates online (see below to set this 'trigger' number) you will get a little popup window in the bottom right hand corner of your screen to let you know. You will also hear a 'PLOP' sound. You can minimize the program it if you like (it will sit down on the system tray with a little black hand icon) and it will continue to check in the background. I would suggest quitting it once you're ready to connect to a server (The popup might show up over your game of half-life otherwise). I'll get this fixed soon. HOW TO USE IT When you open the program you'll see a small tick box to turn WaK on and off. You will also see three buttons. --Options-- That will let you set how often the program rechecks the game servers. The second option says how regularly to show the alert if enough people are on a game server. i.e. don't show me the pop up any more than once every 5 minutes. So that it doesn't drive you nuts. By default the program is set to check the game servers every 30 seconds, and to not show the pop up window any more than once ever 5 minutes. But you are free to changes this. --Change Filters-- Here you can setup which clans you want to keep an eye out for. You have to say what the clan tag is (eg [SLAK]). You also have to say if you want this clan to create alerts (pop up the alert window and play a sound) and if so how many players have to be online before it will do so (the trigger number). If you don't sent the filter to 'alert', players from that clan will still show up in the 'hits' column of the main window, but they will not cause a pop-up alert or sound to be played. Note: You don't really have to put a clan tag in here, you could also put in a friends player name and just set the alert value to 1. That way the program will let you know when they are online. You can have as many filters as you please. You cannot edit a filter that is already in WaK, so just remove it and re-add it if you want to make a change. --Show Servers-- When you click this button the window will expand and show you the list of servers WaK is checking. When you click on a server in the list its details and players will show up in the Server Information window to the right. In the grid that shows the servers there is a column called 'Hits' that shows how many people are on that server who match one of your clan filters (see above). From here you can also remove servers from WaK and add new ones. At the moment you can't change the details of one that is already in the program, so just delete it and re-add it. WHAT DOESN'T IT DO 1. At the moment Wak will only check Halflife servers. I will be adding BF1942 shortly, and others on request. 2. For now you have to open up Halflife yourself to join your clan mates. I'll see to getting this fixed soon with a 'Launch Game' button. 3. If you want to check Telstra Gamearena (tm) servers you have to make sure that you have your Cogs(tm) client open. 4. The program is also still in beta and there are still bugs. Also I haven't made a picture for the popup alert yet, so you'll have to deal with the development image. WHERE TO FROM HERE I'm open to suggestions for other features. If you know me post on the SLAK forums (www.slak.com.au). If you've picked this up somewhere else send me an email. WHAT TO DO IF YOU FIND A BUG Ok, there are a bunch, and I know. Drop me an email if you like, I'll get them sorted ASAP but don't go crazy if I don't get back to you for a few days. WHAT TO DO IF YOU CAN THINK OF A BETTER NAME Send me an email. Cheers -Daniel Trembath ([SLAK]Jagu)
